Have you ever wondered whether some of your personality are due to genetics, carried down from your parents or grandparents? You may have heard in the news that a virus can change its genetic information, or “mutate,” within a couple of months. Over a much longer period time, organisms or animals may also evolve and pick up new traits.
The presence of new traits will affect the environment or ecosystem in which the animals live in. This major, or area of study, will teach you how living organisms may change over time, and how they interact with each other and their environment. It is a broad subject that includes genetics, evolutionary biology, ecology, and physiology.
